Rick has earned an Iron Butt 2000/48 certificate and Completed the SCMA Four Corners Tour.
Rick retired in June 2010 after 35 years working as a Fire Fighter/ Paramedic, the last 28 years with the City of Everett, WA. He worked as a Respiratory Therapist before becoming a Firefighter in 1975. He has taught and coordinated courses for EMT and Paramedic continuing education. And, he has taught CPR, First Aid, and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) courses for the public.
Rick also served as a Combat Medic in the Vietnam War. Rick is a member of the BMW MOA, BMW RA, AMA, the GWTA and Skagit Motorcycle Touring Group. Rick has earned an Iron Butt 2000/48 certificate and Completed the SCMA Four Corners Tour. Current Rides: a ‘05’ BMW K1200LT for two/up touring and a ‘04’ Honda VFR800 for commuting and one-up touring. Professionally, Rick is a member of the National Association of EMS Educators and the National Association of EMTs.
Rick enjoys teaching people skills that will allow them to protect themselves, and to be confident and comfortable while assisting others with traumatic injuries at a motorcycle crash scene. From personal experiences, he knows that when people learn these needed skills, lives can be saved and recovery times can be shortened. This is why Rick started his new business, Crash Scene Safety Instruction, LLC located in Anacortes, WA.
